LifeStore Bank and Insurance Named as A Best Employer in North Carolina
West Jefferson, NC – LifeStore Bank and Insurance was named as a Best Employer in the June issue of Business North Carolina. Business North Carolina recognizes employers across the state, selects the best employers, and categorizes them by number of employees. LifeStore Financial Group placed second among large employers, defined as employees (76-299).
“We are proud of our employees and the commitment they have to serve our customers, and it is extremely gratifying to be named among the Best Employers in North Carolina. I am honored to be part of an organization that develops its benefit package to meet employee needs while serving its local community,” commented Bob Washburn, President and CEO of LifeStore Financial Group.
Business North Carolina surveys employees on dozens of topics including recognition programs, service to the communities, care for employees’ families, recruiting and stand-out programs. The magazine highlights some of the programs that make the LifeStore culture unique, including scholarships, community service, and employee development.
LifeStore Bank and Insurance has long supported education and awards merit scholarships to outstanding students in our community and employees’ children to help them advance their education beyond high school. “We are closely connected to our communities and believe supporting education is more than an investment in skill; it is an investment in the future of our communities,” commented Judy Current, Director of Marketing and Strategic Growth.
LifeStore employees can leave their workday once a month for two hours, volunteer in their community, and get paid for doing so. They can volunteer to distribute food at the food pantry, work at a school, or deliver meals-the employee chooses where they wish to help out.
LifeStore also offers flexibility with time away from work. Whether it’s vacation or sick time, you can take the leave in hourly increments as you need to be off.
LifeStore also realizes the strain childcare can have on the family budget. It provides a weekly allowance to employees who have children enrolled in daycare to help ease this expense.
New opportunities for employee growth and development are also offered in the form of book clubs, Lunch N Learn gatherings, and group activities to foster collaborative team building outside the normal work team. Washburn added, “Our employees have embraced these opportunities to participate with team members from different work locations. We believe interaction among team members is a key component of our corporate culture.”
