Be Informed: Misleading Mortgage Postcards
Have you received a postcard stamped with an Important Notice: Response Needed regarding a LifeStore Bank mortgage? These mysterious postcards are a type of mortgage scam and are NOT sent from LifeStore Bank. In fact, they are originating from another company. In the lower right corner, the postcard may state something similar to, “All information provided by LeadPros, 833-454-2764. Not affiliated with, sponsored by, and loan information not provided by LIFESTORE BANK.”
These solicitations use scare tactics: they reference your mortgage loan, LifeStore Bank, and have your address, which makes them seem legit. They also use vague, triggering language such as "important matter regarding this loan" or “this is time sensitive”, reference a fake Mortgage ID#, and have a strange number to call.
Mortgages are public record. The information about your home purchase (or even a home refinance) and certain information of your mortgage loan are recorded among the land records in the jurisdiction where the property is located, and these documents are public. Companies, including scammers, have the ability to purchase your information if it has been publicly listed.
What to know about these postcards:
- These postcards do not come from or represent LifeStore Bank. They are from third-party vendors looking to sell you something.
- LifeStore Bank is committed to protecting our customer’s personal information. However, some information about mortgages, regardless of what lender the consumer works with, is public record.
- We advise all customers DO NOT call the number on these postcards. The best thing to do is disregard any vague, alarming solicitations regarding your mortgage. Consider them junk mail.
